·         Conservation-  Delicate objects require special handling and care.  Each object is treated with integrity and historically accurate methods.   The professors at Dakota County Technical College, in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institute, have educated their students with the solvent chemistry, materials, techniques and documentation required to work on many wooden objects.  Jon Inman has performed conservation techniques on many wooden artifacts for private collectors, including an 1848 Walnut cabinet for the Wisconsin Historical Society, Joe Kapler, Curator.

·         Do no harm.

·         Document all procedures with photos and written statements.

·         Use reversible materials where applicable.

·         Use historically accurate materials.

·         Save the object from further deterioration.

This maple shaker chair, circa 1830 was missing it's seat.  Our caner used a heron bone pattern to replicate the original.  Notice the warm patina on the finials and lower stretcher.  Our conservation method maintains the antique integrity of 170 years of use.

What is this?

This 18c Spanish commode is a toilet!  The second and third drawers are actually a door, inside is lined with marble on all 5 sides.  The rosewood veneer has suffered serious ammonia damage and was lifting  the veneer.  Over 45hrs. of labor was required to repair each piece of veneer.

This throne chair circa 1913, resides in the grand sanctuary at St. Paul's Cathedral in Minneapolis, MN.   The old polish and wax were removed followed by a thin french polish to highlight the arms and feet.
